President Rodrigo Duterte has recognized the Philippine food scene as a “great culinary destination.”
“I am truly pleased with your efforts to ensure the success of this food and travel festival which highlights the Philippines as a center of food and gastronomy in the world,” Duterte said.
The President graced the Davao Region launching of the Department of Tourism’s Food and Travel Festival at the Abreeza Mall on Friday.
In his speech, Duterte praised the activity for harnessing the potential of tourism, particularly farm tourism, to contribute to economic growth and poverty reduction.
“Today, we reaffirm the important role of tourism im achieving inclusive growth and reducing poverty through the creation of more job opportunities for our people,” the chief executive said.
“This unique but truly wonderful Filipino culinary experience is something that we should be proud of. Let this gathering spark greater appreciation of our diverse cuisine as we steer the Philippine agriculture and tourism into even greater heights,” he added.
