President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday bared that China offered him a mobile phone that cannot be hacked.

This, after Duterte said the East Asian nation can spy on the Philippines even from a distance.

“I know na right now they are listening to us, satellites, without using the grid, the spies. I don’t know kung sino dito. They know. I know because we have talked to him (President Xi Jinping),” the President said on GMA’s “Unang Hirit.”

“As a matter of fact, they offered to give me a cell phone na hindi ma hack. I don’t want the people to suspect that I have secrets,” he added.

Meanwhile, Duterte reiterated that China would never shut down the country’s power because “it’s business.”

“Yung grid nakitulong lang ang China. Hindi talaga natin kaya e. You want better service? You want more energy distributed? China offered to help at kinagat naman natin, so it’s business,” according to him.
