Malls in Manila pay extortion or revolutionary taxes to avoid conflict with the New People’s Army (NPA), military arm of the Communist Party of the Philippines, according to President Rodrigo Duterte.
During a speech in Cagayan de Oro Friday, Duterte said mall operators have “no choice” but to give in to this extortion scheme of the NPA.
“Their extortion is spread all throughout the entire country. Anak ka ng p***** i**, everyone pays. The malls, even in Manila, have to pay. Because if they don’t, they’ll use bombs,” the Chief Executive also said.
He added that communist leaders thrive on the “gullible” and the poor to pursue their own selfish interests.
“Your leaders have billions now. They give you salary when you extort, when you burn tractors, they pay you.
“Is that really the life that you want? Now, for those of you who were able to fully comprehend what I said, you should understand that I won’t be defeated,” said Duterte.
