Duterte comes clean on his health: I have daily migraine attacks, spinal issues but no cancer
President Rodrigo Duterte has admitted to suffering from daily migraine attacks and having issues with his spine, in addition to having Buerger’s disease and Barret’s esophagus.
Speaking before businessmen at a forum held in Malacañang Monday (Dec. 12), Duterte came clean about the state of his health after rumors surfaced that he fainted twice last month.
I have this migraine everyday. I had a bad sleep, the last one was this,” he said.
“And I hit the…I have a lot of issues with my spinal. My doctor would want to operate but you know my wife was a nurse and she used to work in the States, United States, and she said, since a lot of operations for the spinal that went awry, that went wrong,” Duterte added.
Since his common law wife has advised against getting surgery for his spine, Duterte said he has resorted to “pushing a nerve” to relieve the pain.
“I cannot afford the operation, it’s not because I do not have the money. I have the money to pay for it. It’s because my wife said that when — nerve cut is, you are dead forever,” he said.
Duterte said he also has Buerger’s disease, a constriction of blood vessels, and Barrett’s esophagus or a complication of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) as a result of his smoking habit in the past.
However, he denied having cancer of any sort.
“Don’t believe in cancer,” he told businessmen.
