Duterte feels deserving of presidency: God wouldn’t have given me the post if I was bullsh*t

President Rodrigo Duterte believes he’s worthy of his position even if he has insulted God several times.

Duterte called the presidency a “God-given gift” in a speech during the awarding ceremonies of the 2017 Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities in Malacañang.

“Well, the presidency is a God-given gift. I am sure God would not have given me the position if I was bullsh*t. Magklaro tayo doon,” he said Wednesday (December 5).

Duterte won with over 16 million votes in the 2016 presidential race.

Despite criticizing God in public, Duterte denied being an atheist. He said he could not have gone far in life without God.

However, he remains critical of priests, saying believers should kill them.

“Itong mga obispo niyo, patayin ninyo. Walang silbi yang mga g— ‘yan. All they do is criticize,” Duterte said.
