President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday said he was “pleased” with the government’s efforts in addressing the problems of hunger and poverty across the country.
In a Monday statement, Duterte cited the “hard work and dedication” of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Zero Hunger (IATF-ZH), which is celebrating its first anniversary today, in the fight against poverty and hunger.
“The institutionalization of the National Food Policy is indeed a welcome development not only in our search for solutions to our decades-long problem of hunger and malnutrition, but also in our efforts to attain long-term food security in 2021 and beyond,” according to him.
January last year, the President issued Executive Order 101, creating the IATF-ZH to formulate a national food policy to ensure the attainment of zero hunger and poverty eradication.
Duterte also urged the Task Force to continue its collaborative work with other agencies in crafting programs and initiatives that will improve the lives of the poor and marginalized groups.
“With your unrelenting commitment, I am confident that we can attain a stronger and healthier future for all Filipinos,” he concluded.
