President Rodrigo Duterte has already chosen the next chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Malacañang said.
But, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque refused to name Gen. Debold Sinas’ successor.
“I know he (Duterte) has made the decision but I’m not at liberty to announce anything unless I have the appointment paper,” Roque said during a televised briefing.
Sinas is set to retire on May 8, when he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 56.
In May 2020, Sinas, then chief of the NCR Police Office, drew flak for his “mañanita” birthday party at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City during the community quarantine period.
