President Rodrigo Duterte has poked fun at the New People’s Army (NPA) once again, claiming nearly four out of 10 of its fighters are gay.
In a speech in Masbate Wednesday (January 9), Duterte said he had been invited to a wedding of NPA fighters when he was mayor of Davao City.
Maraming bakla sa amin na NPA,” he said.
Duterte said Lumads or indigenous peoples, also make up a sizeable portion of the NPA’s force.
“Marami, bakla pati Lumad. ‘Yung mga indigenous people. Manobo karamihan,” he said.
Turning serious, Duterte warned the communist rebels against attacking soldiers and policemen.
