President Rodrigo Duterte has urged the government to “fast-track” the distribution of fertilizers to Filipino farmers.
Duterte issued the statement at the distribution of 3,423 land titles in Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Friday evening.
“I don’t make promises that I can’t keep. If I say it in public, I will fulfill that until my dying day. Even if I have to rot, I will do it as long as I can fulfill it. I will give you fertilizers and I will teach you how to use it. I’m going to fast-track the distribution of fertilizers,” according to him.
Members of the New People’s Army (NPA) should be burried in those fertilizers, the President also said in jest.
He again urged the NPA rebels to surrender and return to the fold of the law. “Even to this day, I don’t want to kill an NPA because I don’t want to kill my countrymen. Why don’t we just talk to each other instead?”
Meanwhile, Duterte promised to give each of the 2,495 agrarian reform beneficiaries in Negros cellular phones so they could personally report their complaints to him.
“I will give you cellphones. My phone number is there so you can call,” he added.
