President Rodrigo Duterte directed the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to provide more seats for passengers waiting for flights at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
In a public address late Tuesday, Duterte asked DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade to remove restaurants at the airport and use the space for additional seats for travelers.
Prior to this, the Chief Executive lamented the plight of passengers who were left stranded outside the NAIA because of canceled flights.
“I’d like to call the attention of Secretary Tugade. Art, alam mo yang airport na yan, kung sino nag design niyan g*go, sabihin mo sa kanya. Walang upuan. Iilan lang ang upuan. Pag ang mga flights nagpatong ang iba nakatindig lang,” according to Duterte.
“What’s really worst, merong restawran diyan sa labas na malaki. Paalisin mo yung restaurant, lagyan mo ng upuan kasi yung ibang merong mga bata, buntis walang upuan,” he added.
