President Rodrigo Duterte would respect the decision of Congress on the proposed bill declaring September 11 a non-working holiday in Ilocos Norte to observe the birth anniversary of former dictator Ferdinand Marcos, his spokesman said.

On Wednesday, the House of Representative approved on third and final reading House Bill No. 7137 designating September 11 as President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos Day in Ilocos Norte.

Imee Marcos, daughter of former strongman Marcos and close ally of Duterte, is currently serving her first term as senator.
