Duterte looking for a blind follower? Lacson says he does not fit the bill
Senator Panfilo Lacson prefers to be an independent-minded public servant rather than become a blind loyalist of President Duterte.
“If the President is looking for an ally who is ready and willing to praise him to high heavens whether he is right or wrong, then I don’t fit the bill,” he tweeted.
President Duterte earlier hit back at Lacson for supposedly commenting on every issue, saying he was just “trying to be a crusader but ignorant.” Duterte also believed that Lacson is eyeing the presidency given his tendency to comment on issues. He made the latest comments after Lacson disputed his view on allowing cops to accept gifts from grateful benefactors.
Lacson however rejected Duterte’s claim about being ignorant of the law, saying he reads and understands the law or ask his staff when he doesn’t.
“I am not even sure if I want to run for President so I do not know what he is talking about,” the former police chief added.
