Duterte mulls military-led panel to talk peace with communists

President Rodrigo Duterte is pushing for a new panel to negotiate peace with communist rebels.
Speaking at the PDP-Laban rally in Bukidnon, Duterte said the panel members will comprise mostly of military personnel.
“I’ll look for a new one. New methods, new people to talk to. Maybe one, two, three of them are from the military. Maybe around five. Two civilian members, three from the military,” the President said.
Duterte added that he dismantled the government negotiating panel last March because it took the group “too long” to negotiate with the communist insurgents.
“It took too long. Nothing happened in three years,” he added.
