President Rodrigo Duterte has nominated Davao del Norte’s provincial election supervisor Aimee Ferolino-Ampoloquio as Commissioner of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Her term will expire on February 2, 2027.
Once approved by the Commission on Appointments, Ferolino-Ampoloquio will replace former commissioner Al Parreño, who retired last February.
“Pursuant to the provisions of Section 16, Article VII of the 1987 Constitution and existing laws, you are hereby nominated Commissioner, Commission on Elections, for a term expiring on 02 February 2027, vice Al A. Parreño,” his nomination letter signed September 17 read.
In a statement Wednesday, Comelec Chairperson Sheriff Abas said Ferolino-Ampoloquio’s “vast experience” in the frontline of election service will “greatly contribute to the Commission’s thrust to ensure that our electoral processes are responsive to the varying needs of our electorate – making sure that our elections are more inclusive.”
