Preaident Rodrigo Duterte said on Tuesday that Undersecretary Janet Abuel will stay as Budget OIC until his term ends in 2022.

Duterte made this announcement during a situation briefing on the effects of Monday’s earthquake that hit parts of Luzon, held in Pampanga.

“It boils down to money. Maski ano ang problema sa gobyerno it all boils down to the lady there at the end of the table,” the Chief Executive said.

“She has spent her lifetime counting the money and dividing it among us. So, I am not appointing a new… a regular appointment. Si Ma’am will just act as OIC until I, in God’s time, matapos ako. Three years lang naman, Ma’am. Wala nang Commission on Appointments,” he added.

Early this month, Duterte named Abuel as acting secretary of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) after the appointment of former Budget Secretary Ben Diokno as governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
