Duterte on drug-linked Mayor Loot: Bakit buhay ka pa?

After several ambush attempts, President Rodrigo Duterte said he is wondering how retired police chief superintendent Vicente Loot, mayor of Daanbantayan town in Cebu, is still alive.
“Iyan si Loot ilang beses na na-ambush. Ewan ko kung sino. Hindi mamatay-matay ang g***, armored kasi ‘yung…,” Duterte said in a speech in Malay, Aklan on Thursday night.
The Cebuano politiko had been repeatedly named by Duterte as one of the active and retired police generals protecting the illegal drug trade in the country.
In May 2018, Loot and his family survived an ambush after unidentified gunmen at the Daanbatayan’s wharf. His two drivers, helper, and a wharf porter were injured in the incident.
In his speech, Duterte recalled ordering all mayors to a meeting in Malacanang in 2017. The chief executive reportedly cursed mayors allegedly engaged in the illegal drug trade.
“Eh doon. ‘Yung tinatawag ‘yung lahat sila, sinabi ko man. Oo sinabi ko talaga, ‘P***** i** mo, Loot. Huwag mo akong… Do not go into a make believe world na general ka basta nalang magawa mo gusto mo. P***** i**, papatayin kita’,” the President said.
