Duterte on Faeldon: ’I still believe in him’

Two days after firing Nicanor Faeldon, President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday mellowed down on the former Bureau of Corrections chief.
“Faeldon is a decent man. I still believe in him,” said Duterte in his speech delivered in Naga City, Cebu.
The President said it was Faeldon, as then Customs commissioner, who tipped the government off about Mighty Corporation’s use of fake cigarette tax stamps.
“There was a time when a businessman owned three warehouses filled with cigarettes with fake stamps. It was Faeldon who told me about it,” Duterte said in the vernacular.
“We earned because of that report by Faeldon. We earned 37 billion,” he added.
On Wednesday, Duterte dismissed Faeldon for disobeying his order not to allow the release of several heinous crime convicts.
