Duterte opposes early release of ex-Mayor Sanchez: Nagalit din siya

The possible release of convicted rapist-murderer Antonio Sanchez does not sit well with President Rodrigo Duterte.
“I cant speak in behalf of the (President), pero kami nung nag usap kami ng Pangulo talagang nagalit din siya,” Duterte’s former aide and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go said.
Go said Duterte cited a law that prohibits Sanchez’s qualifications for early release.
“Sinabi niya di rin siya sang-ayon at may mga sinite din siya na batas na minimum. In short, ayaw din niya, galit po siya,” the ex-Special Assistant to the President added.
Malacañang, meanwhile, noted that Republic Act 10592 or the law on Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) reveals that recidivists, habitual delinquents, escapees and persons charged with heinous crimes are excluded from the coverage of this Act.
“The inevitable conclusion is that all those convicted of a heinous crime, including Mr. Antonio Sanchez, would be ineligible and disqualified from availing the benefits of the GCTA,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.
The Department of Justice earlier said that Sanchez, then mayor of Calauan, Laguna, may be among the 11,000 inmates who may be released from jail because of good behavior.
In 1995, Sanchez was sentenced to seven terms of perpetua for the rape and murder of University of the Philippines Los Baños students Eileen Sarmenta and Allan Gomez.
