President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the state forces to “go attack full-scale” against the communist insurgents.
“I have ordered the Armed Forces and the Police to go attack full-scale,” Duterte said the awarding of outstanding government workers in Malacañang Tuesday evening.
In another interview, the President reiterated, “Gusto ko kung maari lang, tapusin ko sa panahon ko. I went out of my way. I appointed communists — hard-core communist members in my Cabinet. Then I initiated talks. Dito sila sa Palace. The Tiamzon even. Pumunta sa Davao, nag-dinner kami. Kaibigan. No personal hatred pero hindi kami magkaintindihan.”
Duterte, who signed Proclamation 360 in 2017 declaring the termination of talks with the rebels, said he does not intend to reopen the negotiations with the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front.
“We have had a taste of that, almost all cities. ‘Yan ang pinaka-mabigat na problema na I have to deal before I go and itong mga komunista. Komunista is wala na talagang… I do not think that you can flog a dead horse. The issue of talking to the communists is almost nil to nothing. Eh mga ambisyoso eh,” he added.
