Duterte picks Centcom chief Clement as new AFP chief

President Rodrigo Duterte has named Lt. Gen. Noel Clement as the next chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Clement will replace Gen. Benjamin Madrigal Jr. who is set to retire next week.

The new head of the AFP is currently the Commander of Central Command (Centcom) in the Visayas region.

He also served as the AFP deputy chief of staff for operations and chief of the Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry “Agila” Division.

Clement is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Sandiwa Class of 1985.
