SAMSUAN, Pampanga – President Duterte never asked the House leadership to stop its probe over the alleged anomalous appropriation practices under Budget Sec. Benjamin Diokno, former President and now Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo said.
In a press conference in Sasmuan, Pampanga, Arroyo said she recently met Duterte and tackled only the important priority legislations were discussed to ensure the delivery of his campaign promises to the people.
Arroyo said Duterte has high regard when it comes to the legislative duties of the House of Representatives.
“No, no definitely. He (Duterte) respects the separation of powers,” she said.
Arroyo stressed that Duterte did not interfere or attempted to stop the powerful House committee on rules from investigating Diokno.
Diokno has been a subjects of the House leadership’s ongoing investigation, particularly by Majority Floor Leader Rolando Andaya Jr. in connection with billions worth of ‘parked-funds’ under the proposed 2019 National Budget.
