Duterte to Ricky Carandang’s cousin: Magdasal ka lang, pag nagka-leche-leche na, uunahin kita

President Rodrigo Duterte is planning to go after the cousin of former Communications Secretary Ricky Carandang for coming out with a bogus claim that he has over P1 billion worth of transactions in secret bank accounts allegedly holding his hidden wealth.

“Pero certainly ito si (Overall Deputy Ombudsman Melchor Arthur ) Carandang, I can summon him. Because he committed a crime. Not an administrative one. I’m not trying him, because I’m not a judge. But he has to answer for this, or else, I will go there and bring him to the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation),” said Duterte in a speech before members of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines in Davao City last Saturday.

“Imagine this, Carandang, mag — magdasal ka lang, Carandang. I’m not threatening you. Pagka nagkaleche – leche ang Pilipinas, uunahin kita,” said Duterte.

Carandang on Wednesday claimed that bank transactions of Duterte and his family have reached more than P1 billion based on initial results of the on-going probe of Deputy Ombudsman for Mindanao. The Ombudsman was acting on case filed by Senator Antonio Trillanes accusing Duterte and his family of amassing ill-gotten wealth in undisclosed bank accounts.

Duterte was adamant that Carandang fabricated his evidence noting that the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) denied being the source of these supposed bank records.

“And itong [censored] Carandang na ito, tingnan mo. Using falsified, going public, knowing that the AMLC council has not given its authority to release. Kung may kaibigan ka sa loob, pumunta ka na sa Bangko Sentral tingnan mo na para safety ka. You make a — I will allow it. Maswerte ka na kung may 40 — 40 million,” said Duterte.

Duterte said Carandang was part of the “yellow” faction which was out to oust him from power.

“Kailangan you must obey the law also. Not only me. Ako, ‘di niyo ko pinatawag. You invented. Itong nga ‘yellow’, halos mamatay na lang. Gusto nang bumawi,” said Duterte.
