Duterte says Drilon denies role in 1997 water deals: Wala na daw siya sa ACCRA noon

Opposition Senator Franklin Drilon denied that he was among those who crafted the onerous 1997 water concession agreements between the state-owned Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System and Manila Water Co. and Maynilad Water Services, President Rodrigo Duterte said.
During the situation briefing on typhoon “Tisoy” in Albay on Thursday, Duterte shared that Drilon sent Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea a text message refuting the allegation.
“May text siya kagabi, ‘You tell Rody I am not part of it’,” according to the President.
“Gusto ko malaman kung sino yung mga abogado. Pero ako nagduda ako eh. But, he sent a text to Bingbong. Binasa niya kagabi sa akin. Sabi doon, ‘Sabihin mo kay Rody wala na ako sa ACCRA sa panahon na yun’. But I am not saying that ACCRA is involved,” he added.
On Tuesday, Duterte asked Drilon to “tell the truth” about the alleged irregular water deals.
“I distinctly recall that Drilon said something, ‘Presidente Duterte, do not tinker with that contract because we will end up paying so many billions of pesos.’ Senator Drilon, are you one of those who crafted the contract? I’m asking you,” he said during the oath-taking of new presidential appointees in Malacañang.
