Duterte says everybody wants to work at BIR, BOC: If you covet it, I don’t give it to you

President Rodrigo Duterte reveals why so many people covet jobs at the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
“Alam mo karamihan talaga — I’m not zeroing on on anybody here. I’m just making a sweeping general statement. Malaman mo kasi talaga eh. Iyong kaibigan mo ‘yung gusto na inirekomenda, lahat nun goes to BIR pati Customs. Talagang inaagaw ‘yan. And you know we grew up in a place may mga subdivisons and frankly nakikita namin ang mga bahay ng mga BIR pati Customs talagang magaganda pati kotse nila,” Duterte said in a speech delivered in Malacañang Tuesday.
The Chief President said he can tell if an individual is desperate for a particular post.
“My father was governor 12 years. Marami akong nakilala na trabaho niyan. The choices cut sa meat ng gobyerno. So makita mo. And that’s why dito if you covet it, I don’t give it to you. Iyong mga kaibigan ko ‘yung gusto nila ganun, ‘No. Bigyan kita ng iba’,” according to him.
“Pag malaman ko na atat na atat ka. And mahalata ko kasi I have been 21 years mayor, I’ve been a congressman, I’ve been a vice mayor, I’ve been a prosecutor for nine years, I’ve been a trial lawyer for seven years. Alam ko ‘yung — because I — wala pa ‘yang Tanod — Ombudsman noon eh,” he added.
