Duterte says he can be ‘sweety sweety’ with Lucio Tan. Find out how
President Rodrigo Duterte is willing to be on good terms with bilyonaryo Lucio Tan if he can send planes to Kuwait to bring home distressed overseas Filipino workers.
In a speech in Davao City Friday (February 10), Duterte said he has ordered Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III to facilitate the return of OFWs from Kuwait within 72 hours.
“Now kung gusto ni Lucio Tan na sweety-sweety kami, eh di magpadala siya ng limang eroplano doon. Pakatapos libre doon pa ako magkain sa kanya bukas ng gabi,” he said.
Last year, Duterte threatened to shut down the Ninoy Aquino International Terminal 2, which is being exclusively used by Tan’s Philippine Airlines, in 10 days if it did not pay its unpaid navigational fees and other charges amounting to P7 billion.
PAL relented and paid the government P6 billion.
Duterte said it was only under him that PAL paid its arrears to the government.
“Six billion? Seven billion? Ilang Presidente dumaan dito? Kolekta? Sinabi ko sa kanya (Tan),’Ten days. Pag hindi, kunin ko yang mga eroplano mo, upagbenta ko diyan sa bakalan,'” he said.
