No doubt about it, President Rodrigo Duterte has a rosy view of former President Ferdinand Marcos.
Not only does Duterte consider Marcos as the best president the Philippines has had, but he also thinks the late dictator never killed anyone throughout his rule spanning over two decades.
In his speech at the National Housing Authority Summit Wednesday (Feb. 8), Duterte said: “Marcos was never really also a killer. He would have wanted the processes to be followed.”
The President said proof that Marcos was a stickler for processes was the requirement he instituted for inquest prosecutors to handle cases involving suspected communists.
“That is why I was appointed, inquest— tatlo lang ang kaso ko na hinahawakan. Cases against the military and the police, cases against the rebels, at ‘yung mga — mga kidnapping,” he said.
Duterte said it was through his experience as government prosecutor that he met Secretary to the Cabinet Leoncio “Jun” Evasco Jr., whom he had prosecuted.
