Duterte says SAP wasn’t his first choice: I’ve always wanted lady as special assistant
President Rodrigo Duterte is looking for a lovely as his next special assistant who will handle all his calls and mark his calendar.
“Ang papalit kasi sa akin, babae. Ayaw ko ng lalaki ha,” said Duterte in a speech.
Duterte revealed that he had always wanted to have a lady assistant since he was mayor but a twist of fate made Bong Go, who is expected to resign and file his candidacy for senator next week, his special aide 20 years ago.
“If I had my choice (I would’ve chosen a lady) at that time kasi I was just in a quandary kung sinong magpapalit kay Jimboy (Halili, his former military aide),” said Duterte.
“While they (Go and Halili) were playing basketball, ‘yung aide ko nag-stroke, namatay. So doon sa ospital nag-abot-abot kami, he (Go) offered. Sabi niya, ‘Kung gusto mo Mayor, ako na lang muna. I will act as your aide in the meantime,” said Duterte.
Duterte kept Go, whose grandfather was Duterte’s BFF, as man Friday for two decades because he was a “faithful assistant.”
But over the past few months, Duterte said Go has become too busy and has relied on bosom buddy, Francis Tolentino, as assistant.
“He (Tolentino) was always my point man. He was my only contact from the outside. Not even Bong Go because Bong Go is overworked,” said Duterte.
