Duterte scoffs at probe on PH by ICC ‘idiots’: Gawa lang ng EU ‘yan
President Rodrigo Duterte has brushed off the prelimary investigation being conducted by the International Criminal Court on the Philippines in connection with the war on drugs.
In a speech before the Filipino community in Papua New Guinea Friday (November 16), Duterte lambasted ICC officials, including its chief prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda.
“‘Yung putot na itim na prosecutor nila nandiyan sa Manila sige pa-presscon kay she will start… Sabi ko ikaw putota ka bantay ‘pag nakita kita sampalin kita,” he said.
Duterte said he doesn’t recognize the ICC’s jurisdiction over the Philippines because it was only allegedly created by Europeans.
“Sabi ko I do not recognize the ICC. It is a creation of EU. Hindi ‘yan ‘yung criminal — international court of justice. Ito creation of EU. They want to spread their gospel of international governance,” he said.
Duterte noted that countries like the Philippines had no role in the selection of its judges.
“Sabi ko sino ‘yung mga judges ninyo diyan? Bakit kasama ba kami pagpili nitong mga g*****, p***** i**** puti na ‘yan? Baka ito pedophile. ‘Yan man karamihan sa kanila,” he said.
“So why would I allow myself to be tried by a few idiots human beings in this world?” Duterte added.
The ICC started its preliminary examination into the Philippines earlier this year to determine if it has jurisdiction regarding the crimes allegedly committed by government officials in relation to the war on drugs.
Duterte subsequently ordered the Philippines’ withdrawal from the Rome Statute, which created the ICC, after the tribunal’s announcement.
