President Rodrigo Duterte didn’t utter a single bad word against former Marawi civic leader Samira Gutoc even if she’s part of the Otso Diretso senatorial slate he ripped to shreds on Sunday (March 3).
Duterte said he doesn’t want to speak ill of Gutoc because she was a woman.
“Si Samira, babae man ‘yan, ayaw ko magsalita diyan. Eh ganun ‘yan ang rule eh. Pagka babae kalaban mo, you just shut up. Samira Ali Gutoc. So I have nothing to say to you, ma’am,” he said during PDP-Laban’s campaign sortie in Zamboanga City.
Duterte said he doesn’t want to offend Moros who have female relatives by criticizing Gutoc.
“Kaya hindi ako nag-comment dito sa babae eh, mga kapatid, na may mga babae, dapat sana may mga Moro. Iyan ang ano para representative,” he said.
While Duterte held back on criticizing Gutoc he didn’t hold back on insulting other members of the slate, which he said was bound for hell.
The other members of the Otso Diretso senatorial slate are: Senator Bam Aquino IV, Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano, former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, former Quezon Rep. Erin Tañada, former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay, and abogados Chel Diokno and Romulo Macalintal.
