President Rodrigo Duterte is studying a draft executive order creating a task force to expedite rehab efforts in typhoon-hit areas, his spokesman said.
“A working draft on the proposed Build Back Better Task Force Executive Order has been submitted and is being considered by the President,” according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.
In a statement Wednesday, Roque said the Department of Environment and Natural Resources will chair the Task Force, with the Department of Public Works and Highways serving as Co-Chair.
“The Administration is considering a science-based approach in our rehabilitation and recovery efforts,” the secretary also said.
He added that the leadership role was given to DENR and DPWH “in recognition of their respective mandates and core competence.”
The Office of the President, on one hand, retains its oversight, said Roque, noting that the Task Force must regularly report to the President, thru Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
“The Office of the Presidential Spokesperson will provide updates as the need arises,” he concluded.
