Does Duterte suspect Leni of wanting him dead? Rody’s message to VP before plane ride: Magdasal siyang mahulog yan
President Rodrigo Duterte seems to believe there is an iota of truth to speculation that Vice President Leni Robredo wants to unseat him so she would become the country’s top leader.
In his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Pulanai hydroelectric power plant in Bukidnon Friday (Dec. 9), Duterte paused to read the following message from his aide: “We only have 10 minutes more for clear skies, for info, sir. Otherwise we go down.”
The message appears to be an advice to the President to wrap up his speech so he and his party could fly out of the province while the skies were clear.
Reacting to the note, Duterte said: “Hindi ba ‘yan ang gusto na si Leni? Eh di magdasal siyang mahulog ‘yan. When it is time, it is time.”
Earlier this week, the President accused “Yellows”— ostensibly referring to Robredo’s party mates in the Liberal Party and its supporters— of plotting his ouster so Robredo could succeed him.
“Yung mga yellow diyan, nagde-demonstrate kayo . . . You want me out kasi you cannot accept defeat,” Duterte said in a speech in Malacañang,” he said.
Several LP members and supporters recently took part in protests to denounce the hero’s burial for dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
Robredo, for her part, has denied she or the LP is planning Duterte’s ouster.
