Duterte tells Espenido: ‘Don’t be afraid to kill everybody’

President Rodrigo Duterte said he ordered controversial police official Lt. Col. Jovie Espenido to “kill” those involved in illegal drug activities in Bacolod City.
During the 45th Philippine Business Conference and Expo Thursday, Duterte lamented that Bacolod is “badly hit” with drugs.
“Bacolod is badly hit now. I placed Espenido there. I said, go there, don’t be afraid to kill everybody. Start killing there. Dalawa na lang tayo pa preso,” according to the President.
On Wednesday, Police Regional Office-6 assigned Espenido as the deputy city director for operations of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and chief of the BCPO’s City Drug Enforcement Unit.
In 2017, Espenido led the anti-drug operation that killed Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and several others.
He was also the chief of police of Albuera, Leyte when its Mayor Rolando Espinosa, who was publicly linked to drugs by President Rodrigo Duterte, was shot dead inside his jail cell in 2016.
