Duterte tells Moros to stop coveting each other’s land: Kung nasaan ka, diyan ka lang!
President Rodrigo Duterte has appealed to his fellow Moros to stop coveting each other’s land following the creation of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
“We have the same forefathers. We are the descendants of the proud chieftain. Lahat tayo. At bakit tayo magpatayan? Anak ng… Wala namang nag-agawan. We — we can always, you know, try to solve the problem,” said Duterte during he decommission onf Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels and weapons at the Old Provincial Capitol Compound, Brgy. Simuay, Sultan Kudarat.
“At walang agawan na. I will not allow it. I will not allow it. Tama na. Tama na. Kung nasaan ka, diyan ka lang. No more expansion, no more cheating. Wala nang agawan ng lupa. Let us be fair and just,” he added.
Land ownership is at the heart of the Mindanao problem as Moros have long resented Christians for taking away their ancestral lands.
Duterte promised to keep a line of communication with the MILF in order to provide BARMM with all of its needs.
“Habang ako ang Presidente, makukuha ninyo what we promised to you. [applause] Health, financial, we will do it. Alam ko wala kayong pera. Nagtatayo pa lang kayo ng state. Bago pa ito. Give it a chance to grow. Kailangan niyo pera. We promised to help you,” said Duterte.
“So ang ating kulang na lang is communication…Kung gusto ninyo akong makausap, alamin lang ninyo ang… Pumapasok naman ako maski sa anong…I’ve been here all the time. Alone, with a group now as President. And I’ve always said, I love the Moro people because I am one of them,” he said.
