Duterte tells why he didn’t kill Prospero Nograles: He’s old, what’s the point?
Former House Speaker Prospero Nograles has his wife and old age to thank for being alive despite his bitter political feud with President Rodrigo Duterte.
The Chief Executive revealed that he didn’t kill Nograles because the former politiko was old and he was related to his wife.
In a speech before newly elected Central Visayas barangay chiefs on June 7, Duterte said Davao City Rep. Karlo Nograles is his nephew.
“His (Nograles’) father is the one whom I wanted to kill but I felt sorry for him because he’s already old. So what’s the point?” Duterte said in his speech in Cebu.
The President said he and Nograles have made peace with each other after the latter approached him to apologize.
The elder Nograles challenged Duterte’s daughter, Sara for the position of Davao City mayor in 2010 but lost.
The Nograleses were among the few political families who supported Duterte when he ran for president in 2016.
