President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday lauded the efforts of the police and the military in ensuring an effective response during the onslaught of typhoon “Ompong” in Northern Luzon.

“I cannot overemphasize the role of police and military. Alam mo kasi pagka crisis management whatever it is fire, flood… my experiences in the local government is that if you want an orderly fashion of managing mobilization, you need to call the police and military,” Duterte said.

During a situation briefing at the Cagayan Provincial Capitol in Tuguegarao City early today, the chief executive also recognized the law enforcement agencies for maintaining order during emergency situations.

“They are the only ones who can really do it and make the orders implemented or obeyed,” he said.

“I’d like to thank the uniformed personnel of the Republic and of course the volunteers na tumulong. I can only offer my snappy salute and my gratitude for being here,” Duterte said.
