“The Church has to reform.”

President Rodrigo Duterte made this remark on Friday following the recent admission of Pope Francis that priests and bishops have sexually abused nuns.

“Ako wala akong Diyos. May Diyos ako, different from yours. Kanya-kanya tayong image ng Diyos eh. Now, makita ninyo. The Pope is in Dubai. He admitted yesterday na ‘yung mga madre, ‘yun ang konsumo ng mga pari. Really,” said Duterte in a speech delivered in Albay.

“You read the… Hindi ako nagpapatawa. And I will not joke or crack a joke about that. Sinasabi ko na sa inyo eh. The Church has to reform because… Well, ako Presidente hindi na talaga,” according to him.

Much like his other speeches, the President, who previously asserted that 90 percent of the priests are homosexuals, once again claimed he and his friends were abused by priests during confession.

“Early on sinabi ko inabuse (abuse) kami ng mga pari. Ilan kami? Ewan ko. Basta ang mga classmate ko diyan kasama ko pa sa — the most prominent is Secretary Dominguez. He was a valedictorian from kindergarten to college. Pero… Ewan ko kung anong nangya — anong ginawa sa… Hindi naman abuse but they were groping our balls while we were in confession. Sabi ko na nga tao lang ‘yan eh,” Duterte shared.
