Duterte to gov’t agencies: Enforce ‘ease of doing business’ law

By Prince Golez
President Rodrigo Duterte urged agencies to introduce reforms and streamline processes to ensure faster government transactions.
This, after Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez proposed during the 44th Cabinet Meeting on Monday evening to adopt the ease of doing business reforms to further improve the country’s rankings in the World Bank’s Doing Business 2020 report.
Lopez also asked concerned agencies to streamline and automate their processes.
“This was approved by the Chief Executive,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo told reporters Tuesday.
Out of 190 economies, the Philippines climbed up 29 notches from 124th last year to the 95th in the global ease of doing business ranking.
