President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday threatened to block the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN, which is set to expire on March 30, 2020.
Duterte made the statement during the oath-taking of newly appointed government officials in Malacañang.
“Ang inyong franchise mag-end next year. If you are expecting na ma-renew ‘yan, I’m sorry. You’re out. I will see to it that you’re out,” the President said.
Duterte accused the broadcasting company of not airing his campaign ad in 2016.
The President also claimed that ABS-CBN aired then Senator Antonio Trillanes’ advertisement that showed child actors calling him a killer.
