President Duterte has advised Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez to continue to work towards eliminating the drug problem in his hometown.

Duterte gave the advice to Gomez while discussing the drug menace during a private dinner in Malacañang last Tuesday night.

Gomez first told Duterte that Ormoc has been declared the safest city in the country in 2017 and 2018, shedding its notorious reputation as the alleged drug capital of Eastern Visayas.

“Last night I asked him to continue his support to make Ormoc Drug-free. He told me to continuously work it out w the Police force and the Army to eliminate the drug problem and maintain Ormoc a safe city,” he said.

“He also said that a city can only be drug cleared if the Mayor and the Police force do not want drugs in his area. True,” said the actor-turned-politiko.
