Duterte to veto unconstitutional provisions in P4.1 trillion 2020 national budget – Palace

President Rodrigo will not allow illegal insertions in next year’s budget, Malacañang said.
“Provisions in the budget that run counter to the Constitution will be vetoed by the President. There is no change in that policy,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said on Thursday.
Panelo was reacting to the allegation of Senator Panfilo Lacson that there were last-minute insertions on the ratified 2020 budget.
The Congress bicameral conference committee approved the proposed P4.1-trillion national budget for 2020 Wednesday morning.
Lacson did not sign the bicameral report after receiving a flash drive from the House of Representatives containing a list of 742 projects worth P16.345 billion, which were among 1,253 budget items worth P83.219 billion that were included in a “source” file.
