Duterte to visit slain, wounded soldiers in Eastern Samar

President Rodrigo Duterte is set to visit the wake of six soldiers killed in an encounter with the New People’s Army, the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines, in Eastern Samar Friday.
This, after Duterte postponed his meeting with farmers in Pigcawayan, North Cotabato.
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, a former longtime aide of Duterte, said the President will also see the 20 injured soldiers in a recent firefight with the communist rebels.
Malacañang has yet to release details of the said visit.
In December 2018, Duterte issued Executive Order 70, directing the creation of a national task force to end local communist armed conflict and the adoption of a national peace framework that will address the root causes of insurgencies.
