Duterte to vote for Kiko Pangilinan but won’t campaign for him: ‘Di siya bagay sa Senado!
President Rodrigo Duterte will vote for Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan in case he runs for re-election in 2022 but will not endorse his candidacy.
Duterte on Thursday (January 10) slammed Pangilinan anew for raising the age of criminal liability to 15 years old, saying it emboldened young people to commit crimes.
He said the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Law which Pangilinan authored was to blame for a spike in crime occurrence.
“Kaya nagka-l*****-i*** ang buhay natin. It’s really the fault– I’m sorry. But kung tatakbo siya I will vote for him personally, ipakita ko pa sa inyo,” Duterte said of Pangilinan in a speech in Bulacan.
“Pero kung sabihin ko magsabi ako sa mga tao– kampanya– he should not belong in the Senate,” the President added.
Pangilinan’s six-year term as senator will end in 2022.
Duterte has repeatedly said that he owes Pangilinan a debt of gratitude because he made a way for the President’s daughter, incumbent Davao City mayor Sara Duterte, to meet Sharon Cuneta when she was a young girl.
