President Rodrigo Duterte will personally receive AstraZeneca’s coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccines tomorrow, his longtime aide and Senator Bong Go said.

In an interview Wednesday, Go announced that 487,200 doses of Astrazeneca vaccines will arrive in Manila Thursday evening.

“Meron na pong liham na darating na po sana bukas ng gabi, 7:30 (p.m.), yung 487,200 doses at sasalubungin po namin ito ni Pangulong Duterte mismo po diyan sa Villamor Air Base,” he said.

Malacañang earlier said that the President is on standby to receive the delivery of AstraZeneca vaccines from the global COVAX facility.

Duterte, according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, wanted to thank the World Health Organization and the United Kingdom for the initial supply of vaccine doses.

The scheduled delivery of AstraZeneca vaccines to the Philippines forms part of the 44 million doses from COVAX to inoculate 20 percent of the Philippines’ 108 million population.
