President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday evening removed the power of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to procure equipment.
Talking to reporters, Duterte said that Interior Secretary Eduardo Año is now in charge of procuring items for the police force.
“I will task him to do the procurement of equipment and I expect no corruption,” according to him.
In a speech delivered in Taguig City, Duterte expressed disapointment over the the acquisition of traffic radar guns by the PNP at P950,000 each.
“Certainly, P950,000 radar is just stupid because yung sa Davao P10,000 lang,” he said.
