Duterte urges Pinoys: Love PH like Bonifacio did
President Rodrigo Duterte urged Filipinos Saturday (November 30) to imitate Andres Bonifacio’s love for the country as his 156th birth anniversary is commemorated.
In a statement, Duterte said Bonifacio Day is “an auspicious occasion” to reflect on Bonifacio’s legacy of awakening the Filipino’s consciousness to fight for freedom and build the nation.
“The Fther of the Philippine Revolution has taught us to embody patriotism and take a stand against our oppressors through the civic duties we fulfill as citizens of this great country,” he said.
Duterte sad Bonifacio’s courage and selflessness helped transform the Philippines into an “independent and vibrant nation.”
“I urge everyone to emulate his love for country in our endeavors as we bring to life the strong and progressive Philippines that he had envisioned for us all,” he said.
