Duterte wants to start subway before 2022: ‘Di ako tulad ni Roxas, maski bridge walang nagawa!
President Rodrigo Duterte is hopeful that he would see the Japan-funded Metro Manila Subway start its excavation before he steps down in 2022.
“Pag magdating ‘yung boring machine ng Japan at least before I leave the presidency, kung buhay pa ako, I said sana pagbigyan ako ng Diyos makita ko naman na ano. I’m not trying to say na remember me. As a matter of fact, ‘pag wala na ako, forget me. Ako, ‘yung personal satisfaction kung may ginawa ako. Ginawa ko lahat,” said Duterte in a speech in Isabela.
Duterte said he pushed for the P350 billion subway – which would connect Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Parañaque City – because some politikos blocked his plan to use emergency powers to solve the killer traffic along EDSA. He said the project became feasible after Japan jumped on board to take care of its financing.
Duterte thinks the subway is emblematic of his desire to make the best out of his six-year term through meaningful projects in contrast to opposition politikos who have done nothing while they were in power.
“So anumang pagkulang ko? Wala ako. Anong pagkulang nito ni (Gary) Alejano, (Bam) Aquino, (Chel) Diokno, (Flor) Hilbay, (Romy) Macalintal, (Mar) Roxas, (Erin) Tañada, (SAmira) Gutoc? Anong ginawa nila beh? Maski isang bridge (wala),” said Duterte in a speech.
“Ito si p***** i**** Roxas na ‘to. Matagal na man ito. Nakagawa ba siya maski bridge? Naging secretary ng DOTC (Department of Transportation and Communication), naging DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government). Walang naiwan,” said Duterte.
