President Rodrigo Duterte has asked Congress leaders to invite him to attend public hearings on anti-red tape bills.
This only proves Duterte’s solid commitment to cut red tape across the bureaucracy, according to his spokesman Harry Roque.
“That’s to indicate the urgency by which the President views his problem of red tape,” Roque said during his virtual presser yesterday.
“Pero I understand ang sabi naman ni Tito Sen (Vicente Sotto III) ay, ‘Hindi naman ho namin kayo isa-summon. Imbitahin if need be’. But it shows that the President resolve to work together with Congress to provide the solution to red tape,” he also said.
In a meeting with Senate President Vicente Sotto III and House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano at the Malago Clubhouse in Malacañang last Wednesday, Duterte urged lawmakers to pass more measures that will address red tape and corruption in the government.
The Chief Executive lamented that bureaucratic procedures slow down government processes, particularly businesses.
