President Rodrigo Duterte ordered National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) acting Director-General Karl Kendrick Chua to hasten the implementation of the national ID system for the country’s 105 million residents.
Duterte had said the national ID system could have hastened the distribution of the financial aid under the national government’s social amelioration program.
Chua has also been directed to prepare economic recovery plans from the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and fast-track the government’s ambitious “Build, Build, Build” projects, Roque said during a virtual presser Tuesday.
“Pangalawa, atupagin itong (Covid-19) recovery plan.
Last April 17, Duterte appointed Chua as acting NEDA chief after former Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia resigned from his post due to “personal reasons” and “differences in development philosophy with a few of my fellow Cabinet members.”
