EDSA-phobia? Robredo to celebrate People Power anniversary in Naga

Even Vice President Leni Robredo will not be in Metro Manila for the celebration of the People Power revolution’s 32nd anniversary.

Robredo on Friday (February 23) said she will celebrate the occasion with a mass at the St. Jude Thaddeus Parish Church in Naga City.

She asked those who will attend the mass to wear white to symbolize unity.

Robredo said the mass is her way of commemorating the spirit of the People Power revolution, which toppled dictator and former President Ferdinand Marcos in 1986.

“Simple lang itong selebrasyon, pero ang ginagawa lang natin, ayaw nating makalimutan iyong aral ng EDSA, at mukha kasing papunta tayo doon sa kalimutan,” she said.

The EDSA People Power Commission has announced that President Rodrigo Duterte will skip the commemoration rites on Sunday (February 25). He is currently in Davao City.

Former President Benigno Aquino III will also reportedly skip the event.

Only former President Fidel Ramos has confirmed his attendance to the wreath laying ceremony at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
