Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said on Wednesday (July 24) he doesn’t mind at all if the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) was the one who prepared the sworn statement of Peter Joemel Advincula alias Bikoy.

Guevarra explained this now that he has selected a panel of prosecutors to conduct the preliminary investigation of the criminal complaint filed by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation Group (PNP-CIDG) against members of the opposition allegedly behind the “Ang Totoong Narcolist” videos.

“As far as the DOJ is concerned, what is of utmost importance is whether or not the complainant PNP-CIDG’s evidence will support its allegations and establish probable cause against all the respondents, regardless of who drafted the complaint-affidavit,” Guevarra said.

“That’s why I want the special panel of state prosecutors to commence the preliminary investigation immediately,” he revealed.

The Secretary issued the statement in response to reports that the OSG has been found to have prepared to sworn statement of Advincula.

The PNP-CIDG submitted, among others, to support its complaint the sworn statement of Advincula which detailed how those named as respondents in the complaint planned what he referred to as ‘Project Sodoma’.

Project Sodoma allegedly sought to publicly discredit President Rodrigo Duterte and destabilize his government by implicating him, his family and other government officials in drug syndicates.

The plan also sought to allegedly discredit candidates of Duterte’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago while at the same time propping up those from the opposition Otso Diretso.
